Intelligent cities

This research project involved site-specific analysis related to the London Queen Elizabeth Park / Olympic legacy developments, focusing on sustainable transport and green energy solutions.

In 2011 preliminary work began on a new research project on Intelligent Cities, which comprised the bulk of the research contributions to the 2012 Urban Age ‘Electric City Conference’. Site-specific analysis related to the Queen Elizabeth Park / Olympic legacy developments included preliminary investigations focusing on sustainable transport and green energy solutions as part of two MSc projects that were hosted at LSE Cities.  Research partnerships were also developed with ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, with whom LSE Cities conducted a global survey across 100 cities with regards to their smart city solutions, and with InnoZ in Berlin and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) to advance research related to the electrification of urban systems (particularly mobility). Survey results where published in the Urban Age Electric City conference newspaper as part of the Cities and the green transition section.
