On 20 March 2014 LSE Cities Austin Zeiderman presented at ‘The challenges of global urbanism’ at Durham University.
The workshop reflected critically on recent debates in urban studies around different ways of theorising the relations between the ‘global’ and the ‘urban’.
Austin’s paper, “The Rising Tide of Global Urbanism: A View from Colombia’s Future Port-City,” examines territorial conflicts in the rapidly expanding port-city of Buenaventura and discusses the conceptual and political stakes of taking a global-urban approach to this case.
