LSE Cities’ Research Fellow Austin Zeiderman will present a paper at Royal Holloway, University of London On Tuesday 22 October. The paper, ‘Submergence: Fluid Futures in Colombia’s Presumptive Port City’, will focus on struggles over land and housing in the seaside settlements of the rapidly growing port of Buenaventura on Colombia’s Pacific Coast. This talk will reveal how economic, ecological, and political futures—often highly uncertain ones—come to shape the city and the lives of its inhabitants. The talk is part of the Department of Geography’s Politics, Development & Sustainability Seminar.
