Philipp Rode, Executive Director of LSE Cities and Urban Age was interviewed by Josh Spero of the Financial times on the opportunity and risk of new technologies to public transport investment. In Smart city travel crosses the public-private divide, Rode suggests the risk is that newer technologies encourage government to step back from provisioning public transport rather than being actively involved: “It’s a massive opportunity for good urban sustainable transport, but it’s not happening by default, and that’s the danger.”
