Public lecture of the Cities and the environment series hosted by LSE Cities in partnership with Ove Arup Foundation

As mayor of Copenhagen, Ritt Bjerregaard presided over a number of pioneering initiatives – including promoting cycling and low emissions zones – which help demonstrate how cities can provide solutions to global challenges such as climate change.

    Ritt Bjerregaard is Copenhagen's first female Lord Mayor. She has previously served as a government minister and was the European commissioner for the environment, nuclear safety and civil protection.

    Ricky Burdett

    Ricky Burdett is Professor of Urban Studies at the LSE and Director of LSE Cities and the Urban Age Programme. He was curator of the Conflicts of an Urban Age exhibition at the 2016 International Architecture Biennale in Venice and contributed to the United Nations Habitat III conference on sustainable urbanisation in Quito. He was a member of the UK Government’s Independent Airports Commission from 2012 to 2015 and is involved in regeneration projects across Europe and the USA.
