Information/Graphic Designer

LSE Cities is seeking an Information/Graphic Designer to join the team, to consolidate and expand the Centre’s well-established representational and analytical techniques established through Urban Age publications, ‘The ‘Endless City’ and ‘Living in the Endless City’ books, LSE Cities’ website and micro-sites (e.g. The Electric City), and research reports.

This will include developing a refreshed graphic language for the Centre’s work, exploring the use of animation and digital technologies as well as conventional forms of representation. A significant part of the role during 2014 will be managing and designing the next Urban Age conference newspaper for Delhi conference in November 2014, and all related research and communications material. The successful candidate will take the lead in organising the design, production and delivery of the Urban Age newspaper in association with external graphics consultants.

In addition to working with the Urban Age research team, the successful applicant will also work on other projects/publications (including new books) as part of the wider work of LSE Cities, and will support the executive and research staff on preparation presentations and managing information exchange.

Applicants must have a relevant postgraduate degree or relevant professional experience in graphics, information design, architecture, urban and/or landscape design. They must also have advanced computer skills for entire Office package and Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) as well as ArcView, AutoCAD and MapInfo Experience (or other similar visualisation software) of advanced mapping techniques and 3D visualisations.
