Seen and Heard is a research and engagement project with Brent Youth Parliament and the Blueprint Collective commissioned by Brent London Borough of Culture.
In privatised ‘public spaces’, young people are often treated more as a security risk than users or stakeholders. Many of these spaces are not built to accommodate young people, nor are they necessarily shaped with young people’s needs in mind. Seen and Heard is an action-research and engagement project which offers a chance for young people within Brent to design a public space intervention. Across a series of workshops with researchers from the London School of Economics and special guests from across a range of industries and disciplines, participants will collaboratively design a space for young people in the new Wembley Park development, whilst also creating a multi-media Youth Charter and set of local policy recommendations in the process.
This project is one of the many exciting programs under the London Borough of Culture (LBOC) 2020. Workshops will take place during August and September 2019.
